Migraine & headache diary

Manage migraines easier through your daily life

Migraine Today replaces the handwritten migraine calendar with a digital diary built to manage migraine attacks easier — tracking first symptoms, medication, and the hormonal, sleep, and stress patterns behind them.

Migraine Today

The clinical picture — Germany, Austria, Switzerland

Migraine is a lifelong condition, chronically underdiagnosed and undertreated

More than one in ten people across the region live with migraine, women up to three times more than men. Most cycle through preventive drugs they abandon within months, symptoms they can't connect to a cause, and appointments with no data to bring. The 2025 joint clinical guideline for the region names structured tracking as a required step for judging whether preventive treatment is working.

9.4 to 6.4

fewer headache days, per month

Real-world outcomes from 1,500+ patients using a digital headache diary with trigger analysis — cited directly in the 2025 DACH migraine guideline as evidence for structured tracking.

20% / 8%

point prevalence, women vs. men

1-year prevalence sits at 10–15% region-wide; the gap between sexes peaks around age 30.

30%+

stop preventive treatment early

mainly from side effects or doubt that it's working.

8 vs. 1

headache days/month

for patients with migraine plus anxiety and depression, versus migraine alone.

Referenced clinical guideline

The joint guideline from Germany's DGN and DMKG, Austria's ÖKSG and Switzerland's SKG names a headache diary explicitly as the therapy-monitoring step for judging preventive treatment: success is defined as a 50%+ reduction in monthly migraine days for episodic migraine, or 30%+ for chronic migraine, measured against diary data — and continuous documentation is a formal requirement for continued reimbursement of CGRP-antibody therapy in parts of the region. Migraine Today's export fills the DMKG's own official Kopfschmerzkalender directly from logged data — the same document the guideline points patients toward.

Product overview

Prevention, treatment, recovery

Migraine is managed over years of ongoing monitoring and prevention, not resolved after a single doctor's examination.

Automatic hormonal correlation

Prevention

Automatic hormonal correlation

Every entry is mapped to menstrual, follicular, ovulation and luteal phase automatically, with a plain-language note on the risk profile of each phase.

Cross-symptom correlation analysis

Prevention

Cross-symptom correlation analysis

A same-day correlation matrix across every logged variable, plus prevention and recovery heatmaps quantifying whether exercise shortens an attack.

Passive stress-pattern detection

Prevention

Passive stress-pattern detection

An uploaded message export surfaces stress indicators — late-night activity, disrupted sleep windows, emotional language — clustered before migraine days.

Structured logging in under a minute

Treatment

Structured logging in under a minute

A guided, clinically structured wizard captures intensity, timing, duration and pain type — fast enough to complete during the attack itself, while it's still fresh in memory.

Structured voice capture

Treatment

Structured voice capture

A spoken walkthrough of a clinical checklist — headache, symptoms, triggers, prevention, treatment — transcribed and filed into the matching fields automatically.

Automated spend-to-symptom mapping

A merchant taught once — as a medication or an activity — is recognized on every future statement, without repeated manual classification.

Transaction-linked diary entries

Treatment

Transaction-linked diary entries

Pharmacy, sport and nutrition purchases matched against dates missing from the diary — reviewed and confirmed in one step, with no duplicate entry.

Personalized longitudinal trends

Recovery

Personalized longitudinal trends

Headache rate and attack intensity charted over time, with the specific contributing factor and the improving or worsening stretch identified automatically.

A single export fills the official DMKG headache calendar directly from logged data — the same form German headache clinics already ask patients to bring.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is Migraine Today, exactly?
A digital migraine and headache diary — a structured, clinically informed log of attacks, symptoms, triggers, medication, cycle data, sleep and stress, replacing a paper headache calendar with something that can also chart trends, correlate symptoms, and export directly into the format used by German headache clinics.
Do I have to log every single day?
No. The core diary is built for fast manual logging when you want it, but three Pro tools fill gaps without daily typing: Plaud voice sync turns a spoken recording into a reviewed entry, Conversation Analysis surfaces stress patterns from a chat export, and Cost Statement links pharmacy or wellness purchases from a bank statement to missing dates. Each still asks you to review and confirm before anything is saved.
How does Plaud voice sync work, and what part of it is AI?
A voice recording of your symptoms, medication, sleep and related details, made through your Plaud device, can be turned into a draft diary entry in Migraine Today by pressing “Sync notes.” An AI language model processes the text of that recording for one specific purpose only: identifying which diary fields it describes, so the entry form is pre-filled instead of blank. It is not used for any other purpose, does not evaluate, diagnose, or make any decision about your health, and does not write to your diary on its own. Your name and email address are removed from the text before it is sent for that processing. Every pre-filled value remains fully editable, and an entry is only ever saved when you explicitly do so. Full detail is documented on the Plaud voice sync page.
How does Cost Statement read my bank statement, and is that safe?
A bank statement PDF's text is extracted and classified with pattern matching alone — no AI, and nothing is sent to a third party. The full classification order (your own saved rules first, then pharmacy-name matching, then the bank's own category label) is documented on the Cost Statement page.
How does Conversation Analysis work, and is my chat data safe?
Your chat export is parsed and scored entirely in your own browser — raw message text is never uploaded to Migraine Today's servers or any AI model, only the resulting score and suggested fields are, once you choose to save a day. The exact scoring rules (every signal and its point value) are documented on the Conversation Analysis page.
How are the Insights and Prevention charts calculated?
Plain descriptive statistics — counts, rates and two-group comparisons, each with a minimum sample size before it's shown — computed from your own logged entries, with no AI or prediction model involved. Every formula and threshold (including exactly when a pattern is considered meaningful enough to display) is documented on the Insights & Prevention page.
How does cycle phase tracking work, and where do the settings come from?
Cycle day and phase are estimated from your average cycle and period length using a fixed date calculation, not AI. If you don't set those directly, Migraine Today infers them from the “bleeding today” checkbox you already log. The exact model, including how the preventive-window warning is timed, is documented on the Cycle tracking page.
Is any of my data used to train AI models?
No. Plaud voice sync is the only feature that involves an AI model at all (used to map a recording onto diary fields, with your name/email removed first) — Conversation Analysis and Cost Statement use fixed, deterministic pattern matching, not AI. Nothing you log or upload is used to train a model, by Migraine Today, by Plaud, or by any third party.
Can I bring my data to a doctor's appointment?
Yes — the Reports tab pre-fills the DMKG's own official Kopfschmerzkalender (headache calendar) from your logged data, ready to print or bring to your neurologist.
How is my data protected?
Data is stored under EU data-protection law (GDPR), with access scoped strictly to your own account at every level. Full detail on what's collected, why, and your rights (including requesting a copy or full erasure) is in the Privacy Policy.
Is Migraine Today free?
Yes — the diary, Plaud voice sync, Cost Statement, Conversation Analysis, and full Learn content are all free, with no separate paid tier.
